The change comes in response to high rates of flu among young children, including increased presentations to general practice and hospitalisations. This year’s flu season started later than usual and is expected to run longer.
Call reception on 094807204 to book your child’s flu vaccine with our nurse.
A meningococcal vaccine called Bexsero is now free and part of the childhood immunisation programme. This vaccine protects against the meningococcal strain “B”. Free catch up vaccinations are available for any child 4 years old and under. Please call reception on 094807204 to book an appointment with our nurse.
*Please note Bexsero is also available to purchase if your child is not eligible for the free vaccine. The other meningococcal vaccine (Menactra/Nimenrix) that protects against meningitis strains: A, C, W, Y is not funded under the childhood immunisation programme. This one is recommended too and available for purchase*
Please give your child Paracetamol (Pamol) dose 30 minutes before the vaccination.
We recommend immunising against Meningococcal Disease – see IMAC article regarding two vaccines available (Bexsero and MenQuadfi) which provide different strain cover.
Cost for patients that don’t qualify for funded vaccine(s) is $180 per vaccine.
Please call reception on 094807204 to book your vaccine(s) with our nurse.
